The designs presented here include everything from apartment whith large useable areas to homes where the architect and particularly the interior designer had to work around space restriction. This is the case of some of the mini-lofts and mini-duplexes presented, where it is particularly recommendable to think in cubic rather than square feet, with double-height spaces employed as a common solution to boost a property's dimensions without altering its size. Finally, another point is the flexibility lifts afford as a home, which explains why they have survived for so many decades since their initial 'clandestine' period in the late 1950s. Starting from the validity of this idea, this book may prove very useful for architects, designers and, above all, apartment owners who may want to or who aspire to live and/or work in a loft.
