Yuta Okuda’s First Art Book – A Comprehensive Journey Through His Artistic Universe
This is the long-awaited first art book by Yuta Okuda, offering a complete look into his evolving creative world.
Centering on the theme that "all living things are part of a cycle," Okuda vividly expresses the rhythm of life and the flow of nature through bold colors and intricate lines. The book features a wide range of works—from his early detailed pen drawings, to the emotionally rich With Gratitude flower series, and his latest Circulation series—tracing the transformation of his artistic style over more than a decade.
After studying fashion design in both Japan and the UK, Okuda began his career as a designer for the fashion brand TAKEO KIKUCHI. In 2016, he made the transition to working as a full-time artist. Since then, he has actively exhibited in solo and group shows throughout Japan, steadily building his artistic presence.
Okuda’s early works were composed entirely of meticulously calculated lines, while in recent years, his focus has shifted toward themes of spontaneity and emotion, often depicted through abstract floral imagery. Though his flower motifs appear pop and vibrant at first glance, each petal is drawn with extraordinary precision and care. Okuda himself has remarked that “it doesn’t even have to look like a flower,” suggesting his works go beyond representation—they resonate on an emotional and symbolic level.
Much of his recent work is rooted in personal memory, particularly from his childhood, which he refers to as a process of “self-salvage.” His intricate linework becomes a visual expression of memory, healing, and transformation.
This art book collects selected works from 2011 to 2022, offering a chronological view of his creative evolution. With text presented in Japanese, English, and Chinese, the publication is designed for an international audience of art lovers and collectors. It is an essential volume for anyone seeking to explore the vibrant, profound, and ever-evolving world of Yuta Okuda.
