[Book Description]

Love Letters features 46 envelopes created by Dutch graphic designer Karel Martens, sent to his beloved Lous between 1962 and 1963. Each envelope was meticulously handcrafted using printing ink and a spoon to press patterns. Martens made these during his military service, while stationed in the drawing department of the Welfare Service at the Prins Hendrik Barracks. In addition to creating these envelopes, one of his tasks at the time was to design a poster bearing the slogan: “Don’t croak about military service matters, the enemy is listening.”
