Social design is design for society and society. As a social innovation and on the basis of dialogue and participation, Social Design relies on a new network of the individual, civil society, state and economy and thus reacts to a globally active growth economy and its consequences for humans and the environment. In view of the dwindling means of production and resource Social Design is a reorganization of social systems, living and working environments for discussion. Architects and designers have always played a fundamental role in shaping social culture. Social design represents a long overdue stocktaking of current international positions of interdisciplinary breadth, ranging from new infrastructures to the recapturing of cities by their inhabitants. The approximately 27 projects in the fields of urban space and landscape, housing, education and work, production, migration, networks and the environment are framed by three research contributions that take a look at the current, theoretical discourse based on the historical roots and foundations of social design and throw his future tendencies.
