《GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2025》 is the official yearbook of the Good Design Award, one of Japan’s most prestigious design awards. This volume brings together the winning works of 2025, offering a comprehensive view of the latest achievements and emerging trends in contemporary design from Japan and beyond.
For the first time, this year’s edition is published in a two-volume format. One volume features 1,519 general award-winning works, while the companion volume, 《GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2025 Special Awards and Best 100》, focuses on the “Good Design Best 100,” a selection of 100 outstanding designs chosen from a total of 1,619 award-winning entries in 2025. By highlighting the Good Design Grand Award, Gold Award, and other special award winners, the yearbook provides deeper insight into the ideas, evaluation perspectives, and social significance behind these exceptional designs.
This edition also includes six newly added “Focus Issue” proposals. Each year, the Good Design Award examines the latest winning designs to consider how design can respond to and raise questions about society. The proposals included in this book are drawn from an in-depth reading of the 2025 award-winning works, presenting important questions about the power and potential of design across products, architecture, services, regional revitalization, social systems, and future lifestyles.
In addition, this yearbook newly includes summary-style evaluation points for all winning works, allowing readers to quickly understand why each design was recognized. From corporate products, architectural spaces, and service design to social projects and cross-disciplinary innovation, the book reveals how contemporary design is being practiced across a wide range of fields.
The book features the Good Design Grand Award winner, DLT Wooden Temporary Housing, along with 19 Good Design Gold Award winners. It also includes a total of 20 interviews with award recipients and designers.
