Architect Henning Larsen (1925–2013) was a highly observant and skilled draftsman with a keen attention to surrounding details. He drew almost constantly; for him, drawing was a way to organize his thoughts and a method to deeply understand the essence of architectural design.

In his youth, Larsen chose to break away from the dominant traditional approach upheld at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He sought a freer mode of creation and thinking—unconstrained in both form and concept.
