Book Description
Pentawards is a global packaging design competition that has rapidly become a prestigious event in the design world since its inception in 2007. Often referred to as the "Oscars" of packaging design, this competition attracts designers, brands, and creative agencies from around the world each year. Its goal is to recognize and promote outstanding packaging design, offering both emerging designers and seasoned professionals an international platform to showcase their creativity and design prowess.
The competition spans a wide range of packaging types and industries, including food, beverages, cosmetics, household items, and luxury goods. With participants from over 60 countries across five continents, Pentawards is truly a global event. The jury is composed of international experts from the fields of design, branding, and industry, ensuring fairness and professionalism in the selection process. The competition awards different levels of accolades, including Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, recognizing excellence at various levels.
In the seventh edition of "The Package Design Book," we explore the world’s leading innovations in packaging design from the 2021 and 2022 Pentawards competitions. This book, for the first time, showcases entries from the newly introduced Sustainable and Regenerative Design category, highlighting the work of industry professionals and young designers committed to reducing the impact of packaging on our planet.
This edition focuses on innovative packaging design that respects sustainability, embraces diversity, and prioritizes an inclusive approach to design. Submissions from over 60 countries push the boundaries of visual aesthetics, creating meaningful designs that purely express their brand values.
In addition to thousands of entries, the Pentawards jury has expanded to a diverse group of 50 members representing 25 brands and 25 design agencies, including Amazon, Mars Food, Vault49, Estée Lauder, Superunion, Coty, WWF, and Stranger & Stranger. This book features cutting-edge packaging designs that are not only witty, noble, and modern but also demonstrate the impact of this design discipline.
