Book Description
The Three-Eyed One will celebrate its 50th anniversary in July 2024 (originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine from 1974 to 1978).
This book carefully selects and presents the classic episodes that were restructured during the transition from serialization to the single-volume format, publishing them in a new book for the first time. Additionally, the corresponding pages from the single-volume editions are included, allowing readers to compare and appreciate Osamu Tezuka's masterful editing techniques.
The book also gathers various content related to The Three-Eyed One, such as panels that were altered in different stories, approximately 60 newly discovered character sketches, drawings, and other manuscript materials. These include guest appearances of the protagonist, Sharaku Hosuke, in other works, setting materials drawn by Tezuka himself for the anime, handwritten synopses, and the title pages from the serialized versions. This volume serves as a collection of The Three-Eyed One's lost content, made possible by the 50th anniversary, making it a luxurious edition.
This book contains some language and depictions that may be considered inappropriate by today's standards. However, considering the author is deceased and these expressions do not carry discriminatory intent, the book preserves them as part of the original magazine version.
